See you in the Stars

Today, as Virgin Galactic chartered a new path for mankind, I couldn’t help but wonder,

There are at least 100 companies and individuals with more financial resources than Richard Branson and Virgin Group. Yet, why didn’t they think of this space mission?

What does 70-year-old Richard Branson really gain by doing all of this? When he started on this path in early 2000’s, space tourism was beyond anyone’s comprehension and Virgin Group wasn’t exactly known for cutting edge tech or anything to do with the kind of mental and financial resources needed for this kind of ground breaking endeavor.

How/why did Google, Facebook, Netflix, Microsoft, Apple or any of the other mega Tech giants with all the money in the world not execute this crazy idea?

The romantic in me likes to me believe this is truly more than money, ego or any of the “small” things that stay and die with us once we leave this world.

Remembering the words of Neil Armstrong from July 20,1969 “One small step for Man, a big step for Mankind”.

Thank You Sir Branson for making the stars in our eyes shine brighter today
